Namaste & Welcome

R

Allow me to introduce myself….

I’ve been doing yoga off and on since I was about 20 (that’s 20 years ago, for reference… not sure where that time went), though I can remember doing yoga with this asian lady on PBS as a child! I first learned about Reiki while hitchhiking (ask me to tell you the story some time). In February 2018, I took the first level of Jikiden Reiki, “Shoden” for physical healing and a few months later the second level, “Okuden” for mental, spiritual, emotional, and long-distance treatments. September 2018, I took my first 200 hr YTT in Bali for Modern Vinyasa and Hatha. Less than 3 months later, I travelled to India to take more YTT & learn from the source. It was here that I really learned to respect and honour the traditional practice as I embraced the whole 8 limbs of yoga. While there, I took natal yoga, ashtanga vinyasa and traditional hatha. I am regularly taking additional courses in yoga to freshen what I already know and add more to my roster.

Currently, I am working on a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a minor in Psychology. I love how I am learning that modern science agrees with traditional yoga teachings. I know with every study and training I read/do I will be able to bring you the best practice possible.

My passions are functional mobility with strength and overall well-being. I love to see people achieve their goals and feel good in their bodies with my help and empower them to continue even without my help.

My Philosophy

I believe in the power of education and the importance of proper alignment and awareness in our practice. My approach integrates extensive research with traditional techniques, ensuring you receive the most informed and safe guidance.

As I continue to expand my knowledge of the human body through my kinesiology undergraduate program, as well as my expertise in yoga with additional certifications, I bring a unique and knowledgeable perspective to every session. I want to empower you to have not only confidence in your healing, but the skills too!

What makes us unique:

More of a Classroom than a Sacred Space:
When I took my training in India, I learned that the asana practice is meant to be more of a classroom setting than a sacred space (like is often found in the western world). The asana practice is one of the eight limbs and it is mostly for the body.
It it when we practice the other limbs, that we find our sacred (and deeply personal) space within.
I always tell my my students to speak up, advocate for themselves, and ask for clarification or help during the practice.

Passionate and Knowledgeable Instruction:
Being a student of kinesiology as well as yoga, I bring modern science into the practice while I honour the traditional practices I have been granted the permission to share with you. My commitment to continuous learning means I will always strive to keep you appraised on any new research.

Safe and Nurturing Environment: I’ve always been the “weird” one and I’ve recently been diagnosed with AuDHD, which answered a lot of questions. Being neurodivergent, I bring a unique perspective and type of practice. I have learned to giggle through challenges (on and off the mat) and I encourage all my students to do the same.
